Welcome to PromptKeeper.io ("we", "us", "our"). This Privacy Policy applies to the "PromptKeeper.io ChatGPT" Chrome Extension (the "Extension"). Your privacy is critically important to us, and this policy is designed to explain how we handle your data transparently.

Our core privacy promise is simple: Your prompts, folders, and custom data are stored locally on your computer and are never sent to our servers.

2. Information We Collect and How It's Used

We have designed the Extension to collect the absolute minimum amount of information necessary to provide and improve its features.

A. Information Stored Locally on Your Device

The following information is created by you and stored directly on your computer using the browser's local storage (chrome.storage.local API). We do not have access to this information.

Prompts and Folders: All the prompts you save and the folders you create are stored exclusively on your device.
Extension Settings: Your preferences, such as the selected theme (dark/light) and the active folder, are also stored locally.

B. Information You Provide to Us

License Key (Pro Users Only): If you purchase a Pro license, you receive a license key. To activate and validate your Pro status, this license key is sent to our secure server at https://api.promptkeeper.io. We only use this key to confirm that you have an active Pro subscription. No other personal data is sent with this request.

3. Data Storage and Security

Your Prompts and Folders Never Leave Your Computer.

This is the most important aspect of our privacy policy. All your user-generated content, including every prompt and folder, is managed via the chrome.storage.local API. This means the data is physically stored in a secure location managed by your web browser on your own computer's hard drive.

The only piece of data that communicates with our server is the license key, for the sole purpose of validation.

4. Third-Party Services

Payment Processing: We use Lemon Squeezy as our third-party payment processor for the Pro version. When you decide to upgrade, you are redirected to the Lemon Squeezy checkout page. All payment information, such as your credit card details, is handled securely by Lemon Squeezy. We do not receive or store any of your financial information. 5. Extension Permissions Explained

To function correctly, the Extension requires a few permissions, which you must approve upon installation. Here is why we need them:

storage: This permission is required to save your prompts, folders, and settings locally on your device.
host_permissions for https://chat.openai.com/* and https://chatgpt.com/*: This allows the Extension to add the user interface elements (buttons, modals, etc.) and functionality directly onto the ChatGPT website.
host_permissions for https://api.promptkeeper.io/*: This allows the Extension to communicate with our server to validate Pro license keys.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to others. The license key is used solely for validation within our system and is not shared with any other third parties.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We encourage you to review this page periodically for any changes. Your continued use of the Extension after any change in this Privacy Policy will constitute your acceptance of such change.
